This white gas meter door replacement is designed for a cavity or inset gas meter box (Recessed Gas Meter Box MK1). Its classic design is perfect for interior and exterior use; and is made from glass-reinforced plastic which makes it suitable for all kinds of weather.
The dimensions of this left-hinged meter door are 458mm wide x 540mm high (18.03″ x 21.26″) so please check this door is a suitable replacement for your existing one.
The best way to find out the size of your meter box door is to open it and measure it from the inside using a tape measure.
It is a British standard compliant Mark 1 gas meter box door.

This gas door is suitable for all new build or retrofit installations and is acceptable to all Independent Gas Transporters.
You don’t need to be an experienced DIY handy-man to change this recessed gas meter box door, it’s pretty simple to replace. Here are some instructions to help you:
- The left-hand side of the box has pre-drilled holes into which the door pins are inserted.
- Hold the door and insert the solid stainless steel pin into the top recess.
- Press in the brass spring pin fully and slide into the bottom recess allowing the pin to spring back into the pre-drilled hole.
- Close the door as normal and lock
